ACROSS THE SEA TO YOU

On the Caribbean Sea
lives a girl dear to me
She is ever so fair
wears a rose in her hair
like the Rose of Trailee

When I sail so far away
to a far distant bay
Always dreaming of her
each dream seems to say

Dreaming of you
and Silver Sails out on the blue
the sails that soon will take me
Across the sea to you

Heavenly you
beneath the skies of Azure Hue
Oh sails, please come and take me
Across the Sea to You

Each night I sit and dream
Beautiful dreams of you
and as I sit and scheme
each dream comes true

Dreaming of you
and all the things
that will come true
For I shall soon be sailing
Across the Sea to You

Each night I sit and dream
Beautiful dreams of you
and as I sit and scheme
each dream comes true

Dreaming of you
and all the things
that will come true
for I shall soon be sailing
Across the Sea to You

(Written by David Bishop)

*This song was written by my Dad
in 1937. It's the only song he ever wrote.
For his Birthday two
years ago, I asked my good pal,
John Jarvis to do a Piano track
from an old lead sheet of this
song I've had hanging around my
house for 20 years. My Dad had
given it to me with some other sheet music.
John sent me a entire finished recorded
arrangement of the song which came out
pretty great. I sang it on tape and gave
it to my Dad who was 85 at the time.
It blew his mind. He hadn't heard the song since 1937.
One of the only presents
I gave him that didn't end up in the garage.
A Special thanks to John Jarvis and to
my Dad who wrote it about
my Mom...She used to wear
a rose in her hair.
